SHOCK ANNOUNCEMENT: In a freak sock-picking-up accident*, LBTEPA has sprained her lumbo-sacral ligament (the doover connecting the spine and pelvis) and on physiotherapist's advice will not be running the Gold Coast Marathon in July. As LBTEPA's physio points out, the trouble with sacral instability is that you can only find out how dodgy it is by testing to destruction, as it were (note: persons whose hobbies do not include endurance sport are unlikely to do this) and then fixing it.
LBTEPA's team is considering what action to take against her unstable pelvis. An intensive strengthening campaign will commence as soon as possible. In the meantime, a programme of anti-inflammatories and ferocious sulking will be undertaken.
LBTEPA was understood to be bitterly disappointed, but in good spirits. Sources close to her have revealed her comment upon hearing of the marathon veto:
"Oh well, you still get bling for the half".
LBTEPA now intends to cry and eat too much pizza.

More anon, silver-lining finders!
*This is completely true.
**I just knew that shirt would come in handy one day.

What's up with you women and that sacral thingee? Is that a common injury for female athletes or what? Ah well! Marathons are not going anywhere! Have a great and speedy recovery!!!

It's the price I pay for having Noddie and refusing a sedentary life.

Dang injury anyway. Sorry to hear that. Keep up the physio and leave the socks on the floor. Can you swim? Water run?
Hey, I live on beer and pizza (as far as I can tell) and it's a well "rounded" meal.
By "rounded" I mean the cylindrical can/bottle and the wheel-o-zah.

*ding*, Oh, gotta go, my pizza is ready.

(I think I am in love with Benson)
Hope your cleaning days are behind you- you can't afford to have your health and well being stomped all over by cleaning injuries. I am also boycotting cleaning on your behalf, sure I live by myself and this could get ugly but I am committed.

Wow, you're taking it so well! I agree with morsey - just don't clean anymore! (I wish I could say that an mean it - my house is such a pigsty so much of the time, I'd probably burn off more calories if I picked up a sock once in a while!) I hope you recover easily - is it a good idea even to do a half til it's really really better?

I have a fabulous pair of unused knitting needles you can borrow.

Seriously, I'd be bummed too.

I think my earlier comment on your post was eaten or something.

Sorry to hear about you having to bail on the Marathon. That really sucks!

I did something similar to my back years ago, while cleaning the bath. Weirdly people seem really disappointed that you werent involved in a car crash or something when you describe it to them! Folk are funny!

On the plus side, I totally squirted coffee out my nose when I saw your t-shirt! :D

Love the shirt!

I can't believe you haven't gotten all the guys recommending specific, uh, pelvic exercises for you YET....

Get better fast, whatever it takes!!

What a bummer, still better to get this sorted and be in top shape when you do get to do a marathon. Keep up the good spirits - hey at least you can do a half... unlike some ppl *hangs head in shame*.

WHAT?!!!!!

That's completely awful!

I'll sulk here with you whilst I fire my friends... yes, it was one of THOSE days and I went to seek refuge in your blog only to find that it is truly a dark day.

Sending prayers for a good solid recovery.

Sorry about the injury. If it were me, I'd be secretly happy to have a good excuse not to run a marathon. As it is, my only excuse is simply that I don't want to do it.

Heal well!!
