Silver Linings R Us

You are all the biggest DARLINGS who ever drew breath. This is for you. Or this, if you prefer. Up to you.
Now- this pesky sprain. It's mild and should be resolved in a week or so. Unfortunately I don't have a spare ten days - I was already so behind where I wanted to be in my training that it was time to say "enough!" I'm ok about it now. Really. I've even attempted to emulate the heroic Simlin, and given the leftover pizza to the dog. Not that Simlin gave pizza to his dog . But anyway (and aren't strong pain killers the best?) I'm fine. See? I did a list! Lists make everything ok!

BAD THINGS ABOUT DOING THE HALF RATHER THAN THE FULL MARATHON
I really reallly reeeaaalllly wanted to do it! Waaaahhhh!
Nowhere near such good bragging rights.
I feel stupid dragging the family 2000km to do something I could do in Shepparton (BTW no disrespect whatsoever to Shepparton - it's a lovely course)
Explaining why I'm not doing the full will be tiresome.
I'll have to wait until 2009 now as I have Other Plans for later this year.
No excuse to go mental at the expo :(

GOOD THINGS ABOUT DOING THE HALF RATHER THAN THE FULL MARATHON
21.1km is still a pretty long way.
The half-mara starts at 6.30 so I'll have finished before it gets too hot.
The Spousal Unit and Noddie won't have to hang around for hours and hours waiting for me.
I can run with ihatetoast, at least until she gets to full speed. Then I will watch admiringly as she zooms away.
I'll be properly prepared for this and for a full marathon when I do it.
I'll see the full marathon winners finish!
I can cheer on my CR friends doing the marathon.
I will enjoy the rest of the day - and the rest of our lovely holiday - much more if I'm not exhausted and footsore.
I still get bling!
More anon, rainbow-chasers.

Too cute :-) I love silver linings!! There's always the next marathon, and they are much more fun when you are not nursing an injury. Well done, LBTEPA!!

There are many advantages to the half, plus less training time means more time for other things :D

oh, you can get canned fruit at the g.c., too, but it's not as cheap. anyway, noddie wants to come up north to get out of the arctic tundra.

i don't get a lot of zoom in. but to keep you from being a liar, i'll carbo-load on a lot of curry - thai hot!

21.1ks is still a bloody marathon - half my arse!!! That's a loooooong way - and you could always have a bed marathon to make up for it after with all your unexpended energy (but not a half bed marathon coz noones happy when you go half way there!!!)

I like the fulls, but if I keep getting this IT band stuff I do't know. Oh, and I much prefer happy smiley face hug to sweaty weird hug.

The "good" list is bigger than the "bad" list, so that's a bonus.. and like people have already said - 21.1kms is still a looong run!

Thanks for your comments on my blog - I've decided that I can't ignore everyones words of encouragement and "go gettem", so I'm gonna do the coaching course!!!! Exciting but scary all at once. I have so many ideas for afterwards, it's just the thought of the course that scares me - after that, let me at it!!!

Hmmmm...IMHO... a half-marathon is NOT easier than a marathon. A 5K is NOT easier than a marathon. They are just different. The pace, training, expectation is different.

Can anyone say that shotput is easier than javelin?

That's the spirit. Get on with it.

Hi - just picked up your blog from Jessie's - looks like I have found another goal oriented, wannabe endurance athlete! Will have to come back later and read more.

LOVE the half mary distance. It's so much less than half than a full. Ya know?

Like a zillion times less. Not half less.

But still looooong, so still bragging rights and anyway most people have no idea what the dif is between a half and a full. srsly.

Group hug back!
