Tagged

hanellie has "tagged" me to provide a concise self-portrait in 8 factoids. My first tagging ever! Most stuff about me is in the 'it's a long story' link in my sidebar but I'll have a bash at some more.
1. I never imagined it was possible to love anyone as much as I love my Noddie. It is a qualitatively different love from the way I love the Spousal Unit.
2. Some days I want to change my name and run away to Venezuela so much I check tickets and schedules on the net.
3. I have an extremely bad tempered, nasty streak which I try to exercise as seldom as possible.
4. Some people say I'm driven, but I see it differently. I'm allowed to want things and go after them. BTW these things are not usually "things", but experiences like running, travelling, study.
5. Exercise calms me down and makes me happy.
6. Wine is a constant temptation.
7. I try to see everything in life as an adventure and to teach Noddie this.
8. I'm a big fan of Thoreau's saying that the worth of something is the amount of life you have to expend to get it.

If the Half Marathon was today I'd make it Beaumaris (2.5km from the start). Is a DNS better or worse than a SPF (Slow Painful Finish)? I don't know....... trying not to be sad......
The reality is, I know it would be stupid to do it, but a part of me (the bloody-minded, pigheaded part of me) wants it. It's not just the bling. It's the day. It's the crowds, it's the buzz, it's the euphoria as you fly up the last bit of road to the Arts Centre Spire and for about 2 minutes your legs stop hurting and then you cross the line and there is absolutely nothing like that feeling.....and the grin you can't take off your face all day....and boring everyone stupid with anecdotes... and feeling just that bit taller...
Is it worth almost 3 (if I'm not travelling well) cold, (I gather the forecast isn't good) miserable, questioning-every-step hours?
I don't know.

Supposedly on Quantas a one way ticket to Caracas costs $2770.
That's a lot of Mulah.
Go for the bling!

You know, I'd say go for it too. The weather doesn't look too bad, it's a goal race and finishing should bring back some of your running mojo.

Whats in Venezuela??

A Slow Painful Finish is a lot better than a DNS.

I'm sure you will not what is best in the morning.

SPF's would ultimately be more rewarding i'd imagine :)

I thought of you today..."Hopefully Alison is doing her run today".... first time i've had a 'blogger thought' intrude into my 'real world' timetable. Congrats on being my first! LOL

I'm sorry I haven't been on for a few days to help motivate you.... So didya do it? Bummer that you haven't been able to get rid of that dang headcold (and three times as bad when Noddie has it too!), but I hope you came good, coz you've been really wanting to do this run.

Totally agree with Point 1. Sooooo in love with my kids. Sometimes I just can't get over how beautiful they are. (Of course, other times I could throw them out to 'play' with the dog, but that's another story! LOL)
Point 3 affects me with lack of sleep, which is why I haven't been posting alot. Don't post if your feeling like a 'postal' beyatch!
Life IS an adventure, Point 7 is true, best to teach the kids this up front. Be positive about what happens to you and you'll enjoy your life that much more than being down on everything.

Nice as I bet your tacky PJ's are, i'll still send you my 'get well and smite that nasty sucka' wishes, just in case it's still got a hold on you. Even sending a few extra 'pick on someone your own size' wishes for Noddie, in case she's still afflicted. BTW, can I gather from a couple of posts ago that Noddies alias is Lara? Brent soooo loves this name and wanted me to call our girl Lara. I refused on principle, because he was doing it in honour of Brian Lara (West Indian Cricket LEGEND)...

Habit of the week is a great idea, I might have to steal that one for myself. We know what we've got to do, hey? It's just a matter of MAKING ourselves do it!

Hayley

PS - don't worry if you don't got the bling, there's plenty more bling to be had in the future!
